What is an Appraisal
A real estate appraisal helps to establish a property's market value. This is the likely sales price it would bring if offered in an open and competitive real estate market. Your lender will require an appraisal when you ask to use a home or other real estate property as security for a loan. The lender wants to make sure the property will sell for at least the amount of money it is lending. The appraisal is an unbiased estimate of what a buyer might expect to pay - or a seller receive - for a parcel of real estate. Most people turn to a licensed, certified, professional appraiser to provide them with the most accurate estimate of their property.
